The palette I'm obsessed with this summer—and how to wear it.
Some summers have a signature color. This one has six. And it’s no coincidence: this season’s palette is one of the most versatile and wearable I’ve seen in a long time. Nothing loud, nothing tricky. Just shades that look good, mix well together, and—when chosen right—can transform any outfit without requiring much thought.
I’ll break them down by category; that’s how I process things when building a seasonal wardrobe.
BASE SHADES: YOUR NEW CANVAS
These are the ones doing the quiet but essential work. The ones worn underneath, the ones that tie everything together, the ones that make it all work.
Butter Yellow
My favorite of the season, hands down. It’s a non-intimidating yellow—creamy and soft—that brightens your complexion effortlessly. It’s nothing like the intense yellows of past seasons. This shade is easy, sophisticated, and pairs well with almost anything: white, brown, denim, and even red. If you’re torn between two garments and one is in this shade, go for that one.
Cloud Dancer White
The white of the summer isn't your standard optic white. It’s this one: warmer, softer, with an almost creamy undertone that makes it far more wearable and flattering. Pantone named it a Color of the Year, and brands have embraced it across their collections. A summer staple—ideal for refreshing any look and perfect as a base to let your accessories shine.
Ice Blue or Blue Aura
Cool, light, almost sheer. It’s a shade that conveys the sense of freshness we crave during the hottest months. It pairs easily with denim in any wash and with the earth tones I mention below. The effect is even lovelier when worn in linen or cotton.
ACCENT COLORS: WHEN YOU WANT TO STAND OUT
These are the colors that bring a look to life—the ones that turn a neutral outfit into something memorable. My advice: you don’t need to wear a lot of them; a single piece or accessory is more than enough.
Tomato red (Lava Falls)
Direct, vibrant, and elegant all at once. It’s the kind of red that flatters everyone and looks unbeatable against tanned skin. Whether it’s a dress, a handbag, or sandals, it works in any form. If you’re wary of red, start with an accessory: a bag or earrings in this shade are enough to transform an entire outfit.
Lime green (Fresh Lemon / Alexandrite)
A shot of pure energy. It’s a shade that demands attention and, when worn well, radiates optimism and personality. My favorite way to wear it is as a full garment against tanned skin, or as a pop of color in an accessory paired with a neutral base outfit. It’s not for everyone, but those who pull it off do so brilliantly.
Warm earth tones: chocolate brown and sage green
The great balancers of the summer palette. Chocolate brown (Cocoa Powder) adds the structure and sophistication sometimes missing from summer looks, while sage green connects with nature in a very organic, elegant way. Both work beautifully in leather or raffia accessories and are perfect for anyone seeking a minimalist look with real depth.
HOW TO COMBINE THEM: MY FORMULA
You don't need to wear every color of the season. Just choose two or three that resonate with you and build from there. And if you need a guide, the 60-30-10 rule works best this summer:
60% in a neutral base color. Cloud Dancer white or beige are the easiest: they're the canvas on which you build everything else.
30% in a soft tone that adds personality without competing with the base. Ice blue, butter yellow, or a dusty rose work perfectly for this role.
10% in a statement color. This is where tomato red or lime green come in, and always in the accessories: the bag, sandals, or earrings. That 10% is more than enough to give the look energy and remind yourselves that summer has arrived.
My current favorite combination: white + ice blue + a touch of tomato red in your bag or sandals. Clean, fresh, and with that touch of personality that makes all the difference.
